When
a tannery receives a raw hide from the slaughter house, the hide must
be protected immediately from "putrefaction damage." To
this end, bactericides are used in the wet processes of leather preparation
for soaking and bating the hides. The intensive handling of hides
during this process requires that the bactericide used is friendly
to the user.
